The question on most of our minds is, “Is it?” or “Is it not?” Yes, you know what I’m talking about… The R- word.

I don’t watch or read the news (because they’re all same old things repeating itself everyday) so recession was not even on my mind. But it actually came into my mind today because there was an article on Yahoo! homepage about “How to keep your job during a recession“.

Whoever wrote it was giving 5 tips on how to keep your job during downsizing of your company… To be honest, it was really interesting for me to see what people are reading and all the information we’re getting. Was the article actually informative? Well, to me it sounded like you need just be more obedient and a bigger ass-kisser to keep your job at a minimum wage. I love the part when they say, “now is not the time to ask for a raise.” So they’re pretty much saying we need to keep our values low and just pray/hope someone else’s decision can make our lives a little bit better. Um, OK.

HOPE does NOT work when it comes to money matters. You don’t HOPE to make more money and you don’t HOPE to keep your job. As a person, you MAKE a choice and you TAKE action for what you’re life is going to be.

Whether it’s a recession or not, there always will be those people whose lives are not effected by any of this non-sense. But why the rest of us? What’s the difference between us and “them”?

Perhaps they’re not depended on the economy as we are. I’ve heard how some people don’t actually have any debt, not even a mortgage. This was a surprise to me because I thought everybody need to have those debts, at least that’s what we’re told. Everywhere we turn, there’s a flashing sign that says, “borrow money here” and “borrow money there.” It almost seems like it’s a trend to be in debt, no offense, but it’s true.

I heard one of those people who have zero debt saying, “I don’t like having my life being controlled by interest rates and what not.” Geez, how inspiring. Made me think why I didn’t think of that in the earlier days of my life. And that moment, I finally realized why so many people are so stressed out. We don’t really have lives anymore! Our lives are in the hands of the lenders and we spend the most, if not rest, of our live to pay them back. It’s a sad reality.

From that moment, I’ve made a decision that I will not do anything that could put my life in the hands of others who don’t care about me. It’s important for me to choose do things which will allow me to have more control over my own destiny rather than none. Yes… I finally realized. Better late than never, I say

Everybody needs to ask him/herself, “Do I truly respect myself enough to give myself the chance to make a decision and live?” Whatever the answer is, you will see an outcome of exactly that.

Have you ever been to a restaurant and seen one of those snobs being rude to the waiter or waitress? It’s very amusing to watch how some people think the ones in service industry is their servants. Hm, it’s doesn’t make sense to me how this happens.

Apparently a person status has been measured by money. A person could gain a status among others simply by having a lot of money, it doesn’t matter whether this person is an ass or not. Why do we feel we’re entitled to things because we made a lot of money? In reality, everyone wants respect. However, the mistake is that most of us have been taught more money will earn us respect. And that’s the illusion we lost ourselves in.

Imagine if this society had more wealthier people than poor. For instance, 60-70% are wealthy and 30-40% are poor. Or better yet, 80% wealth and 20% poverty, opposite of what it is now. You may think this picture is impossible to create, but I already did in my mind so it is possible (what happens in our physical world has to happen in our mind first). Even in reality, there are more entrepreneurs than any time in history and the number of wealthy people are growing. Now think about this situation. What will happen then? How will all those 80% of the people get their “entitled” services from the 20% of the population?

This would be an interesting situation to see with the current state of mind we’re in. Here’s a reality check 101: Money was created as the means to transfer values. There’s no title that comes with it and there’s no human value that comes with it. But humans right now are slaves to money. We live our lives to make money because this world is designed to turn people into money making machines, no questions asked. It sounds insane, I know. But it’s the sad truth. We created money in our mind, then we created the value of money, then we lost ourselves in our own creation, and now it’s completely controlling us. Kind of funny if you think about it.

The bright part of the story is that we can always re-create money to set us free rather than keeping us imprisoned. And it all starts from a human mind. We can start this by giving a full respect to others. A role we all must play in this world doesn’t determine how important we are. Everybody’s important. Start treating waiters/waitresses like shit and see what happens. Eventually, no one will be there, and it doesn’t matter how much money you have because you’ll be serving your own dinner table.

Human value should be measured in integrity and how much the individual gives back to society, not money how much money they have. Or if we want to use money as a correct measurement (the transfer of values), then we should re-think about how it’s being distributed. If some people are doing the work most of us don’t want to do, then they should be paid much higher than the job that everybody wants to do. If nobody’s there to do the work we don’t want to do, then the world will simply stop (think about things you’d NEVER do and people who are in that industry). The work everybody wants to do is easily replaceable since whoever is willing to do it if one person doesn’t (plus everyone wants to do it for the money anyway). So there is no reason why money needs to be stacked up in that area. I think if we’re going to use something to symbolize “values”, then it should be used correctly. That way everybody can realize what each of our true passion is, rather than just chasing money.

Next time when you come around those people who are there to service your needs, show extra respect. Thank them for their service and let them know that you’re day is better because they were there. It’s important that people are respected for what they do. When everybody starts doing the work they do because they simply want to contribute to the society, then everybody will start to receive the highest quality services from each other. It’s all about selfless service. Do it because you want to brighten up someone else’s day, not because you’re obligated to. And always show respect, no matter what their occupation is.

Much love.

When you start to judge things in your life, everything else will start to judge you. When you judge “other” things and people, it’s like judging yourself. So when you feel like someone else is judging you, notice you’re simply getting your own judgment back. Opinions don’t count much when everything and nothing is you. A person’s view is a focal point that begins to the infinite. So when that focal point becomes a judgment, everything else will be. People often complain about how life is this and that. Ghandi was right when he said, “Be the change you want to see in the World”. It all starts from the center point, which is each point of consciousness. Start with where you’re currently standing, and choose wisely about what you want to send out to your world. Each point connects to the entire web. Nothing is left out. So remember this when you’re about make a category for something you see in the next moment: You are looking at yourself in the mirror.
